The Story
The code came first. The business made it useful.
Tall Karol wasn't a business plan. It was a pattern that kept showing up for twenty years, until building a studio around it was the only move left.
Twenty years of building
The code came first — more than twenty years of it, from WordPress builds to React, Next.js, AWS, and the cloud architecture that ties them together. Not code for its own sake: websites, apps, and tools that had jobs to do.
Then the other side of the table
Fifteen-plus years in marketing and growth put me on the side that engineering usually only hears about secondhand — running teams, managing e-commerce operations, rebuilding tech stacks, refactoring workflows that had sprawled to 70+ steps down to 22. I learned what stakeholders actually need, how they talk about it, and how far that language sits from a technical spec.
Chapter 03
The pattern.
Every company had the same problems wearing different logos: attribution gaps nobody could close, slow stacks nobody owned, scattered data, manual workflows everyone had learned to live with.
And behind all of it, the same missing role — someone senior enough to fix the systems and fluent enough in the business to know which fix actually mattered.
Chapter 04
So: Tall Karol.
A studio built on one model — senior engineering deployed directly into your company. Your Slack, your standups, your repo. Fractional on retainer or scoped by project, doing the work that pattern demands: websites, web apps, and the automations that connect them.
Why the model works is the Pitch. What it has actually shipped is on the record in the portfolio.
Your systems have a pattern too.
Tell me what you're building and where it grinds — I've probably seen the shape before.
